ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice with roots in China that has thrived for thousands of years. Over time, it has evolved into various styles and techniques and has gained popularity worldwide.

  • I trained at the esteemed College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, where I honed my skills in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element styles of acupuncture. This dual approach enables me to tailor treatments uniquely to you, whilst adapting to the different phases of the month, the year, and the various stages of life.

  • Acupuncture embodies the profound connection between the body and nature, reminding us that we are integral parts of the natural world. By aligning with the rhythms of the seasons, we can cultivate greater harmony and well-being. The body inherently possesses the ability to heal and restore itself, and acupuncture serves as a pathway to unlock that potential.

  • Using ultra-fine needles, acupuncture connects to and gently stimulates carefully selected points throughout the body. Each point serves distinct functions and characteristics that support the flow of Qi (pronounced "chee"), the vital life force energy that sustains our health and vitality. When there are deficiencies, excesses, or blockages of Qi, this can manifest in variety of symptoms such as pain or emotional distress.

  • Acupuncture works to restore balance and support the flow of Qi, helping to alleviate illness or disease and allowing us to better utilise the nourishment we receive through food, breath, exercise, and rest.

Alongside your treatments, I’ll also offer simple, practical suggestions that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine. These small changes can empower you to take charge of your health and feel more in control of your well-being every day.

The British Acupuncture Council exists to establish and maintain the highest professional standards for acupuncture practice in the UK, ensuring patients receive the best possible care by setting strict guidelines for training, practice, and conduct among its registered acupuncturists, while also advocating for the wider acceptance of traditional acupuncture within the healthcare system; essentially acting as a self-regulatory body for the acupuncture profession in the UK.

If you would like to know more about acupuncture, you can find helpful information, FAQs, research studies and more on their website.

“The physician who understands the channels and collaterals, and who is able to regulate the flow of qi, can adjust the functions of the body. If the channels and collaterals are open, the qi flows smoothly, and the body remains healthy. If the channels and collaterals are obstructed, the flow of qi is blocked, and disease arises.

The skill of acupuncture lies in the ability to insert the needles at the right points, at the right depth, and for the right duration, to remove blockages and restore the harmonious flow of qi. Thus, a skilled practitioner must have knowledge of the body’s structure, its energetic pathways, and the balance between the internal and external forces.”
